Performance Celebrates Pavan’s 20 Year Anniversary

We are celebrating a very special milestone: Pavan Vasudev’s 20-year anniversary with Performance. When he first joined, Pavan was drawn to the chance to work across different avionics domains and take on new challenges. Two decades later, his journey has taken him from project engineer to account manager, guiding teams through some of our most complex projects.

Through late nights, big wins, and countless memories with his teammates, Pavan has helped define not only the work we do but also the culture we’re proud of. We sat down with him to reflect on his path, the lessons he’s learned, and what this milestone means to him.

What initially attracted you to join Performance, and how has your perception of it evolved over the past 20+ years?

I was drawn to Performance because it was smaller than Honeywell, where I had been before. I liked the idea of working across different avionics domains instead of being limited to one area. Originally, I thought it was crazy to move from an OEM to a services company. But over time, I learned that Performance is different. We are masters of execution. We guide customers through the fog of dysfunction, helping them achieve outcomes they could not reach on their own, all while staying on budget and schedule. “Performance” truly lives up to its name. We are not just another services firm. We provide solutions, and we stand behind them.

What roles have you held at Performance?

I’ve held multiple roles over the years: Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Principal Engineer, Senior Principal Engineer, Project Lead (back when that was a title), Engineering Leader, and now Account Manager.

For about 13 years, I served as an individual contributor and Project Lead before moving into program management as an Engineering Leader.

Reflecting on your journey with us, what are some key milestones or memorable moments that stand out to you?

One that comes to mind is traveling to Grand Rapids in the late 2000s. We rotated in two-week stints to work on the 787 Common Core System reviews and integration. There were long nights, but the teamwork, and the fun we had outside of work, made it unforgettable.

Another was leading the 737 U11 FMS project, where we had 50 team members spread across seven scrum teams. Twice a week, we met in what we called “the Dungeon” for live scrum sessions. We filled a whiteboard with every roadblock imaginable, but we pushed through and delivered.

And of course, I always look forward to our company holidays. Those memories with the team are just as important as the projects.

Can you share some lessons or insights you’ve gained from your experiences here over the past 20+ years?

One big one: every project eventually comes to an end, even the tough ones with challenging projects or schedules.

Another is that everyone here is invested in both the company’s success and your success as an individual. When you need support, leadership has your back. You are valued for your unique strengths, and those strengths make the team stronger.

And finally, no problem is too big to solve. If you persist and keep chipping away, solutions eventually come forward.

What aspects of your role do you find most fulfilling?

I really enjoy communicating with both our employees and our customer counterparts to keep projects running smoothly. It is rewarding to help ensure ultimate project success while creating true “raving fans” along the way.

I also find a lot of fulfillment in identifying and winning fun, exciting projects and products to work on—the kind of work you can’t help but brag about outside of the office.

What advice would you offer to new employees based on your extensive experience and knowledge of our company?

First, all of the above that I have already mentioned.

Second, remember that everyone here is willing to help. If you ever feel isolated, flip the script. Reach out and see how you can connect with others.

Third, go to every company event.

And finally, stay humble, adopt a learning mindset, and advocate for yourself when needed.

Looking ahead, what are your aspirations or goals for the future, both personally and professionally?

On a personal level, I want to increase positive outcomes for my friends, family, and faith community.

Professionally, my goal is to expand my effectiveness on the business side by bringing in meaningful work that aligns with our company’s financial, operational, and growth objectives. By doing so, I hope to give every person at Performance the chance to engage deeply in their work, have something they are proud to brag about, and ultimately lead a prosperous life.

What does reaching this milestone mean to you, and how do you plan to celebrate this achievement?

It means a lot. To celebrate, I’ll be taking the 20-year complimentary trip to Ireland, generously provided by Performance. I will also be taking time to reflect with the peers who hit the 20-year mark alongside me. We have been through so much together, and I am grateful for those shared experiences.

At the end of the day, working somewhere you actually look forward to going, because of the people and the work, is priceless.
